IMG DAVID LEADBETTER GOLF ACADEMY
I'm very pleased to announce that I recently became an official recruiter for the IMG David Leadbetter Academy in Bradenton, FL. I will cover the greater Orlando and Daytona Beach areas. If you are interested in discussing more about sending your child to the worlds best junior golf academy, contact me at info@BrendonElliottGolf.com or BrendonElliott@pga.com or by phone at 386-532-9639 and we will set up an appointment.
MORE ABOUT THE ACADEMY:
The David Leadbetter Golf Academy has impacted junior golf more than any other academy in the country. In the past 13 years the academy has produced 112 AJGA All-Americans, 8 AJGA Players of the Year, 2 AJGA Sportsmanship award winners, 2 United States Amateur Champions, 2 United States Girls Junior Champions. We are very proud of all our students, but when we think of all 112 of our All-Americans, we truly realize the impact our students have made over the years. This accomplishment alone represents golfers at their best. Selection to the All-American teams is based on performance in AJGA tournaments, as well as the non-AJGA national tournaments throughout the country. David Gossett, Aree Song, Casey Wittenberg, Seung Su Han, Paula Creamer, Julieta Granada and Peter Uihlein round out the group of DLGA graduates who have achieved the highest honor in junior golf by earning AJGA Player of the Year honors.
In the past year alone, DLGA students won over 50 national junior titles. DLGA had 12AJGA All-Americans in 2007 as well as three members of the 2007 Junior Solheim Cup Team. Also, in 2007 we had 34 FCWT wins (in the older division), 10 independent national tournament wins and 7 AJGA wins.
Their male alumni have also had great success on the PGA tour, collecting three over all titles. The women have had 5 winners on tour collecting a total of 12 wins. We have produced 13 LPGA tour members, 4 PGA Tour members as well as numerous professionals playing on the Asian Tour, the Futures Tour, and the European Tour as well as numerous other smaller tours around the world. Their alumni include such pros as Paula Creamer, Sean O’Hair, Julieta Granada, Aree and Naree Song, Candy Hanneman, Miriam Nagl, Virada Nirapathpongporn, Taylor Leon, Oh Ji Young, Jeanne Cho, Yani Tseng, Carolina Llano, David Gossett and Ty Tryon. Casey Wittenberg who just secured his 2009 PGA tour card finished in a tie for 13th at the masters at age 19. Just recently we had a current student, Jessica Korda finish tied for 19th in the Women’s US Open.
DLGA Bradenton offers some of the finest facilities in golf training. Facilities include: par 72, 7,000 yard golf course at the IMG Academies Golf & Country Club, a 30-acre double-ended driving range, which includes 3740 sq. ft. of Cover shots covered hitting space. Beneath the Cover shots is EZ Tee Synthetic Range Turf for optimum performance. Recently installed was a 2673 sq. ft. nylon synthetic putting green with a zoysia fringe to compliment the already massive short game area. Opening this summer is a brand new 7,300 sq. ft Golf Admin Building (an indoor hitting bay with state-of-the-art biomechanics, club fitting/testing facility, pro shop and numerous video rooms).

Lots of Cool Thing to Come in 2009 From Brendon Elliott Golf!
Allow me to re-introduce myself....My Name is Brendon Elliott and I am the Head Golf Professional at the historic Winter Park Country Club in Winter Park Florida as well as the Owner of my own Golf Instruction Business and website, Brendon Elliott Golf LLC and http://www.brendonelliottgolf.com/.
My instructional expertise lie in the development of Junior Golfers as well as all aspects of the short game and putting for all golfers of all ages. I also focus on helping golfers become better by using what they have but being a “Smarter Golfer” as they play. You can shave several strokes off your game just by being more in tune with the way you play and the decisions you make out on the course.
As far as Junior Golf goes, I have spent a great deal of time developing my “Little Linksters” Junior Program. This program is for kids 3-4, 5-8 and 9-12. I use a combination of what I feel are the best philosophies and programs out there and mix in good old fashion FUN to get the kids interested in the game and to learn the basics. My program was recently featured in Florida Golf Central magazine as well as the “Where to Play Golf” Radio show. MY TAKE ON GOLF FITNESS...
Brendon Elliott here again. I would like to talk about Golf & Fitness with you for a few moments. I recently started a multi phase health & fitness program which I believe should be an important consideration for all of us. Whether it be for improvement with your golf game or just for your health in general, you should consider a healthy lifestyle for yourself too. Remember…ALWAYS consult with your doctor before starting any health or fitness program.
PHASE ONE
In the first phase I worked on weight loss. In May of this year I reached my heaviest weight ever. I was tipping the scales at 240 pounds. Since then, I am proud to say that I have lost 51 pounds and got down to 189 pounds. Check out my before & after pictures below:

PHASE TWO
I’m in the process now of starting phase two which is a fitness and training program. There is allot to choose from out there in terms of getting help with and putting together a fitness or golf specific fitness program and I’ll never make claims that one is any better than another. I am by far not an expert. I just started working with a TPI (Titlist Performance Institute) Certified Fitness Instructor by the name of Scott Shepard based out of Lake Mary/Heathrow Florida. Scott’s owns and operates Plane Performance Golf Fitness & Wellness. You can check out his company by clicking the banner below:
You can also check out the TPI website by clicking on the banner below…It is a fantastic resource!
As I said, I am no expert but below are some links to some other golf fitness resources that I can recommend to you:
Not enough time in your schedule for lots of exercise? Check out the folks at SuperSlow Zone!

Check out the Better Golf Fitness Products website which is a very well put together site by Anthony Renna. Also check out Anthony’s Blog & Podcast.

The best Golf Fitness Publication out there is Golf Fitness Magazine!

Also check out the Golf Fitness Magazine website!
Another great resource on the web is GolfersMD. Click to link below to explore the site!
Check out my website and go to the Golf Fitness Page for more info….
PHASE THREE
The third and final phase is more golf specific. This phase is taking place hand and hand with phase two. In phase three, I’m working on my own golf swing. Yes….even Club Professionals need help with their games! I’m no different than all of you out there, I struggle with my game. A lot of it has to do with a lack of play and practice but I have attributed a great deal of my bad swing habits to my poor fitness level. I’m confident that by going through this journey, I will see a dramatic improvement in my golf game. I think it is very important for everyone, no matter what the state of their golf game is, to work with a certified golf instructor. Even the world’s best, Tiger Woods goes to see his coach, Hank Haney constantly! Click the link below to find a PGA Instructor near you:

What You Can Learn from Tiger...
What Can We Learn From This?
Too many times I see armatures (and club professionals like myself too) not paying enough attention to their surroundings on the golf course. Wind speed, wind direction, pin locations, firmness of the green, firmness of the fairway and other various direct and indirect influences that can effect the outcome of your shots seemingly become "Non-Factors" to most. Just pulling out a club based on your distance to the pin and swinging away may be costing you numerous strokes every time you tee it up.
Save Some Strokes Next Time You Play...
Start to take notice of your surroundings on the golf course next time you tee it up. Concentrate of factors such as wind speed, wind direction, pin locations, hazards locations, the firmness of the greens and fairways, the humidity that day, and anything else that you can conceive of. You don't need to let these factors take control of your mind, just be more aware of them and adjust your club selections and shot shapes accordingly. Combine this with a good pre-shot routine and you should eventually start to see your scores fall.

WANT TO HOLE MORE PUTTS? SURE WE ALL DO…
The quickest and easiest way to drop strokes off your game is to work on your short game and more specifically, your putting. The following 7 tips may help you become a better putter.
WORK ON YOUR ALIGNMENT
As in all phases of the game, bad alignment can be the cause of many bad swing problems. Always make sure that your feet, hips and shoulders are aligned square to your target line.
KEEP YOUR HEAD STEADY
Keeping your head steady is curtail to good putting. Think of your head as the center point or anchor of your putting stroke. Watch the guys on tour this weekend; those that are having a good putting week are probably keeping their head very still.
KEEP YOUR WEIGHT FORWARD
You should have your weight distributed a bit forward. Think of keeping your weight distribution at 60% forward and 40% back.
ROCK THE TRIANGLE
Stand in front of a full body mirror and get into your normal putting set-up. Take note of the “triangle” that is created by your arms and your shoulders. Maintain that triangle throughout your stroke or “Rock the Triangle.”
TRY A HEAVY PUTTER
I advise that everyone experiment with different types of putters, you may be amazed how differently one putter over another may feel (or make you feel)! I advise that you try a heavy putter; the weight will help you keep the putter blade low through the hitting area.
THINK POSITIVE
Golf is a very mental game (we all know that) and I believe that the mental side of the game is emphasized around the greens. To battle the “mental demons” that haunt all of us (especially around the greens) we simply must think positive. It really is that simple! Every time you walk up to a putt you must think you are going to make it. You will be amazed by how this will really work!
PRACTICE... PRACTICE... PRACTICE...
The real trick, if there is one, to becoming good at any aspect of the game is to practice. The beauty with putting is that you can practice it at the course, at home, or practically anywhere that has a level surface. If you are at home, just throw a cup or mug down on the ground and start putting. Wherever you practice, the most important thing is to develop a repetitive and proper putting stroke. This can be achieved by following the 7 steps laid out for you in this article.!
GOOD LUCK!!
QUICK TIP...“IT’S HIP TO BE SQUARE”
"IT'S HIP TO BE SQUARE"
"A lot of things that effect where your ball goes happens before you even start your backswing."
Wherever your target line may be (i.e. left fairway, center fairway, left of cup, right of cup) make sure your shoulders, hips, and feet are square to your target line. This will help you from your full swing through your putting. By doing so, you will put your body in a better position to make a better swing, and more times than not you will put your ball closer to where you want it to go.
